Hiya Craig,

I still remember sitting in a smelly old garage when you souped up your old bikes with John and my husband of 18 years Paul Henry. Well done always knew you would go far.
Boys (17 and 12) follow you always both motorbike mad.

Regards.

Craig, I am interested in buying a sport bike. I am trying to decide between a gsxr 1000 and a buell xb12s lightning. What would you recommend for someone who wants performance and excellent handling through the twisties. I like the concept of the buell, (low rev torque and weight distribution down low) but I want to be sure that it still has a good amount of engine performance. It may be apples to oranges buell: 103 hp / suzuki: 175hp. Since you have ridden so many different bikes I would value your opinion greatly so that I can find the bike that would best suit me. Thank You so much, and I look forward to hearing from you. Thomas Jackson

Thomas,

You need to decide on what you want from a bike. The GSXR has the massive performance and a real power surge when you twist the throttle. It handles well, it is state of the art and does everything it is supposed to do. The Buell however is something different. It looks and sounds like no other bike which in itself turns people's heads and stands you out from all the rest. There is no massive power surge but at the same time there are no surprises. In other words, you can really work a Buell often to the max and you stay in control as oppose to it controlling you. The low centre of gravity makes for a very forgiving bike if you find yourself in difficulty maybe by going too fast into a bend or losing traction on some surfaces.
I've spent so much time on Buells over the past 5 years that I guess I'm a little biased. Anyway, whatever you decide I'm sure you'll have fun. Ride safely.
